POSSIBILICA MANIFESTO

A sustainable-culture ecovillage

Formed under the auspices of the UN’s Global Ecovillage Network

Established 12 June 2008

PURPOSE: Possibilica is a global research laboratory to develop, implement, and teach the soft skills of sustainable culture.

FLAG SYMBOLOGY: The flag of Possibilica shows an energetic diagram of double space holding. The background color represents the unbounded field of ordinariness. The square distinguishes an extraordinary space of adult responsibility. Within that safe space a circle represents the nothingness of the archetypal masculine, surrounding an infinity-sign representing the everythingness of the archetypal feminine. The tension between the archetypal masculine holding space for the archetypal feminine fuels Possibilica with the Principle of Archetypal Love.

CULTURE: A very clear distinction is held between Possibilica and modern culture. The widely accepted assumptions of modern civilization are not valid in Possibilica. They make no sense here. Possibilica is not so much an ecologically-oriented modern-culture neighborhood as it is a completely different way of interacting with the world. For example, one fundamental characteristic of Possibilica is the general awareness and avoidance of low drama, defined as any action designed to avoid responsibility, such as complaining, blaming, resenting, justifying, making excuses, or being right. Modern culture thrives on low drama and modern people do not know the cost of this. Possibilica’s orientation towards high drama, or responsible actions, underscores the need for Possibilica to endorse the following membership prerequisites.

MEMBERSHIP: First prerequisite: choose continuous engagement in a personal development process as the ongoing rite of passage into adulthood. Second prerequisite: Possibilica requests members to have completed and won their battles with the entities of alcohol, drugs, tobacco, gambling, and computer sex.

DIET: Basically vegetarian, locally grown. Very few imports.

GOVERNMENT: Archearchy. Long ago there were matriarchies where feminine qualities prevailed. Modern culture is a patriarchy where masculine qualities prevail. Archearchy is where a harmonious interplay of feminine and masculine archetypes prevail.

DECISION MAKING: Possibility-Team consensus with a spaceholder for the archetypal context of radical responsibility. If you see a job to do it is your job. Temporary job managers receive ongoing feedback and coaching from team members. Possibilica is a winning-happening feedback culture.

CURRENCY: Love, respect, relationship, clarity, possibility, and transformation. Do you pay your husband to make the bed or wash the dishes? Do you pay your wife to organize household chores or get the children fed in the morning? These are petty questions. Creative collaboration is the currency of Possibilica. If your life is about doing what you love to do then any other form of compensation is irrelevant. The work is its own reward.

PRODUCTS / EXPORTS: Possibilica specializes in producing, documenting and delivering sustainable culture soft skills. These are provided in the form of communication and leadership training, trainer training, authentic personal development processes, healing, stellating archetypes through deep feelings work, rite of passage into adulthood, radical responsibility work, and extraordinary and archetypal relationship skills. In addition, Possibilica exports artwork, theater productions, books, articles, public talks, workshops, conference presentations, websites and e-newsletters.

ECONOMY: None. "I think we should start by saying that conventional economics is a form of brain damage.”- David Suzuki.

Modern culture has proven that economics is a suicidal paradigm. In Possibilica sustainability replaces economy.

  • Reusable articles instead of disposables.
  • Producer is responsible for the full life cycle of objects.
  • Local entrepreneurship instead of franchises.
  • Self-inhabited property instead of absentee investment property.
  • Time is time instead of time is money.
  • No local currency, so no currency exchange value.
  • Independent freelancers instead of employees.
  • Moneyless collaboration instead of competition, credit and interest.
  • Direct exchange of materials, know how and manpower instead of accumulating capital and assets.
  • Sustainability instead of creating the illusion of profit through externalizing costs.
  • Responsible local self-management rather than bureaucracy and taxes.
  • Authentic adulthood initiation rather than intrigue, gambling or competitive sports.

The economy of Possibilica is:

  • Supporting every individual to develop their innate talents and realize the fullness of their humanity.
  • Appreciation of being rather than having.
  • Shared discovery of sustainable solutions.
  • A beneficial amount of free time.
  • Happiness fed by ingenuity, esthetics and artistry.
  • Authentic communication.
  • Intergenerational solidarity.
  • Satisfaction from honest work.
  • Creating the beauty of our built environment.
  • Developing innate talents in all four bodies (physical, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual).
  • Personal autonomy.
  • Fun and joy in inner growth. You cannot buy or sell these things, and all of them are completely sustainable. Possibilica avoids globalization through respecting the integrity of other cultures and demanding the same respect in return.

RELIGION: None. The horrors being performed in the name of God by organized religions disgraces the dignity of God. Thinking that you need to believe in something before you experience God is like thinking you need a radio before you can sing a song. “God does not live in the sky.” – Lee Lozowick. Possibilica is a culture of spiritual practice. That is very different from religion. We sing and dance together a lot and do improvisational theater, all within a tacit acknowledgement of an unlimited spiritual manifoldness.

UTILITIES: Possibilica is off the power grid of modern culture. Solar and wind energies are locally generated and used sparingly.

EDUCATION: Education is self-directed home schooling and apprenticeships that build matrix for consciousness in all four bodies, and strengthen the muscles of attention and archetypal feelings. Education in Possibilica includes preparation for a formidable rite of passage into adulthood, after which education can really begin. LOCATION: Middle or Southern Europe.

SIZE: About 300 hectares.

AUSPICES: Possibilica is a project formed under the auspices of the Global Ecovillage Network (GEN). Possibilica collaborates with Global Ecovillage Educators for a Sustainable Earth (GEESE), with Gaia University, and with Gaia Education Deutschland, and is enrolled in Gaia Education’s online Ecovillage Design Education (EDE) Curriculum, which has the endorsement of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) and is an official contribution to the UN Decade of Education for Sustainable Development- UNDESD.
